The Modern Comms Program (the Modern Communication Services for Government Program or MCP) is a group of projects to fulfil the Government’s Voice Services Strategy (developed by the Voice Services Project) through:
- procurement of the required components for a modern integrated voice service;
- development and implementation of the service for government through TMD; and
- transition of the new services into the customer environment, including an established ongoing support framework.
This overarching program of TMD projects is structured and resourced to help achieve a smooth transition to Government’s new voice model while maintaining TMD as a viable and effective service provider.
Why do we need to replace the Government’s telephone service?
For more than twenty years the Tasmanian Government has used an analogue telephone system called Spectrum. We now need to replace this telephone systems because this technology is being switched off by the only provider, Telstra.
