TMD completed its study into mobile device management for the Tasmanian Government in late 2011.
This study came about in response to demand from Agencies to identify a mechanism to manage their mobile and tablet devices more effectively. The trial evaluated how mobile device management software could support a range of Agency business needs such as monitoring Agency owned mobile devices, protecting corporate data, and enabling remote blocking and remote wiping.
The key findings of the study were:
- currently available mobile device management products do not sufficiently meet the business needs of Tasmanian Government Agencies
- carriers are heavily investing in the development of mobile device management software and the specific business needs that are required by Tasmanian Government Agencies may be available in the future.
