Optional Services

A range of optional services is available from NT II suppliers.

Examples include:

  • Internet-only services
  • Web and other hosting services
  • co-location services
  • customer equipment management
  • network management and reporting services.
  • video conferencing
  • help desk services (eg shopfront support)
  • enhanced proxy services
  • secure FTP service and
  • hosted mailbox.

One-off or specialised services can also be negotiated.

Customers should contact the NT II suppliers to discuss the range of optional services which are available.

TMD also works with NT II suppliers to develop new services to meet customer requirements.

Internet-only services

Internet-only services (ISP services) enable customers to connect small offices or home users directly to the Internet, instead of to the NT II network. Where required, customers may use a VPN remote access service (see Core-related Services) to access the NT II network.

NT II Internet-only services are provided by BBW Telecom.

Web and other hosting services

Web and other hosting services enable customers to host services within a supplier’s data room and server environment. This includes web hosting, application hosting and the provision of virtual servers.

NT II web and other hosting services (excluding physical hosting, which is discussed under Co-location Services [link to section below]) are currently provided by Telstra.

Co-location services

Co-location services enable customers to physically locate equipment within a supplier’s data room environment (eg. for redundancy and/or disaster recovery purposes, or to take advantage of carrier grade power, environmental and security infrastructure).

NT II co-location services are currently provided by Aurora and Telstra.
